«El camino es no Camino»

The Open City is located 30 Kms north of the port of Valparaiso in a site of 275 hectares with 3 kms of Pacific coast. It is owned and run by the Amereida Cooperative, a part of the School of Architecture of the UCV. Since 1970 it has been a site of architectural experimentation aimed at creating a mode of making architecture.

Liberated from the conventions of normal architectural practice and spurred on by the scarcity of means a highly unique way of understanding and making architecture has emerged. Poetry, observations and poetic acts are the basis for the architecture exploration, and building in relation to the hands and body’s capacity. A commitment to the beliefe in invention and reinvention.

«Volver a no Sober» returning to not knowing.
